Goosen Funeral Held in Weare

South County Line--- Services in memory of Mrs. Cornelius Goosen were held Friday morning from St. Joseph's church in Weare with the Rev. Fr. E. L. Quaderer, pastor, officiating.

Pallbearers were Thomas Brenan, John Scanlon, Donald Lundberg, Julius Matson, Henry Terryn and Charles Teeryn.

Among those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ston Goosen and family of Coopersville and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jansen and family of Wiley.

The rosary was recited at Tate funeral home in Hart Thursday evening.

The Goosen family has resided on the same farm for the past 35 yers and previous to that had lived in the Crystal Valley and Bass Lake areas following their arrival in the United States in 1913 from their native Belgium.

Devoted to her home and the rearing of her three sons and five daughters, Mrs. Goosen still found time to join in community activities as long as her health permitted.

Mrs. Goosen, 62, Expires Tuesday

South County Line--Mrs. Cornelius Goosen, 62, of South County Line died Tuesday at her home. She had been in ill health for some time.

Theresa Elizabeth Peerlings was born in The Netherlands, Oct. 27, 1892 and was married there to Cornelius Goosen, who survives. The couple came to the United States in 1913 and lived in Riverton Township for the past 36 years.

Survivors include her widower; three sons, Frank and Ston of Muskegon and John of Ludington; five daughters, Mrs. Frank Areklet and Mrs. Francis Minnick of Riverton, Mrs Will Schlee, Mrs. Henry Dennert and Mrs. Louis Wilde of Hart; three brothers who live in Belgium, 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Weare with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery. The body is at Tate's funeral home in Hart.

Theresa Goosen Dies Tuesday

Death came to Theresa Goosen Tuesday morning at her home in Riverton Township, Mason County at the age of 62, following an illness of a year. She had lived in the Buck's Corners area for the past forty years.

Mrs. Goosen was born in the Netherland on Oct. 27, 1892 and came to the United States and to Riverton from there. She married Cornelius Goosen in the Netherlands on Sept. 7, 1912. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's church in Weare.

Surviving besides the husband are three sons, Frank and Stanley of Muskegon and John of Ludington; five daughters, Mrs. Anna Areklet of Pentwater, Mrs Ruby Minnick of Ludington and Mrs. Mary Schlee, Mrs. Julia Dennert and Mrs. Barbara Wilde of Hart; three brothers, Louis, Harry and Gus of Belgium; and 11 grandchildren.

Rosary services will be held on Thursday evening, Jan 20 at 8:00 at the Tate Funeral Home. Final rites will be held Fri. morning at 9:00 fromt he St. Joseph's church in Weare with Rev. Fr. E L Quaderer officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary cemetery.
