"We do not have a conclusive date for the birth of Capt. David Dunbar Wardwell. He was born circa 1824 and would have been 16 in 1840. He may also have been 15 in 1840. If he was born circa 1825, then he fits in the family of Taylor Wardwell in 1840 (census), with room for a male 15-20. This fits the evidence, as Taylor & Sarah were married on November 16, 1823, and Captain David Dunbar Wardwell was probably their first born." -Mark E. Honey Genealogy (Actually, they were married 26 January 1824, which places his date of birth more likely in 1825.)
