28 Jan 1915, p7 - The simple annals of a devoted wife and mother who sacrificed all on the altar of unselfish devotion to home, family and charity. Sylvania Wissler was the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Needler, and was born in Henry county, Indiana, January 25, 1850. She was married to Benj. F. Wissler August 5, 1869. She was the mother of seven children, Clarkson D., Alice Cary, Cora Ellen Bond, John Emory, Elizabeth Ophelia, Frank Edison and William Arthur. All survive but Alice Cary, who died in 1876. In the healthful period of her life she participated in church work as a member of the Evangelical association and afterwards of the German Baptist or Brethren church. During her residence in Richmond, she was active in charity work, notably as a member of the Penny club, until ill health compelled her to relinquish public duties. She gradually declined in health thro the last ten years and died on January 21, 1915. Had she lived until today she would have rounded her 65th year. She went without a parting word. "So tiny love should do; it cannot speak, for truth hath better deeds than words, to grace it." Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Locust Grove church by Rev. Teeter.
