Articles from Our Cooper Family

Charles Clayton Baily was born in Kentucky August 15, 1816 and while living there he married Susan Ann Lightfoot who was born February 27, 1815 in Flemming Co. Kentucky. Her lineage will make up chapter 13 of this section.

They came to Indiana as did their parents around 1835 or so and were the parents of 11 children. One of which was my Great Grandmother Cynthia Ann Baily Cooper. Her parents were Robert and Johannah (Dulaney) Lightfoot. Her Father purchased land in Fountain Co. very early. Charles passed away August 29, 1870 and she on March 15, 1885 and they both were laid to rest in Bonebrake Cemetery, south of Veedersburg.

Susan Ann Lightfoot, my Great, Great Grandmother was born in Fleming Co Ky. February 27, 1815 and was married to Charles Clayton Baily. Their family will appear under the Baily line. This was the Ancestor that my Grandfather Cooper believed to be an Indian. It was my Aunt Susie House Cooper’s discovery that they were indeed English and the fact that she didn’t want to disillusion him she gave this information to my Cousin Ellen Cooper Burkett and did no more work on it.
