  7.   It would appear based on the gap between Lucy and John, and the recorded marriage to Sarah in 1843, combined with Stephen's age, that Stephen may have had an earlier wife not mentioned by the History of Hillsborough. On p. 2:439, Lucy R. Jackman who married James Jackson Murdough is identified as the child of Stephen Jackman and Sarah Hoyt, but on 2:331, she is not included in the list of his children? Her marriage to James Murdough seems a matter of record, and that she is Stephen's child seems likely given her cohabitation, but who her mother was, is a matter of question. The problem is noted, but no answer given, in Source:Gould, Sherry L. Early Families of Bradford, New Hampshire, p. 229, where she is listed as a "Probable child (JACKMAN) of Stephen", with no mother specified.
