Death was due to hemorrhage of the brain. It is thought that he received a strain whilst engaged in his work. This matter has been under consideration of the Miners' Association for the past week. the deceased gentleman was 56 years of age, and came to Victoria from Cornwall when only nine years of age. He came by the boat by which the first English cricket team to Australia arrived in 1862. most zealous worker in the Eaglehawk West Methodist Church and Sunday School, and for many years was superintendent. Before his death he taught the Young Mens' Bible Class, and was vice -president of the Band of Hope. He was the first president of the Christian Endeavour Society connected with the West Methodist Sunday School, and was the second oldest scholar in the school.
He was a splendid cricketer, and delighted in playing with the West Methodist Sunday School Team. He was connected with the Eaglehawk United Cricket Club many years ago.. The deceased had only one sister alive Mrs. Stephen Holman of Sailors Gully. A widow and family of four daughters and two sons are left to mourn a sad loss. The funeral takes place tomorrow.
