When Sophia's father died it looks like she was a great help to her mother. She was appointed executor of the estate after her uncle resigned. The probate went on for years. Ogemaw County Herald, West Branch, Ogemaw Co., MI Aug 29, 1946 "Funeral Rites For Mrs. Sophia Wangler Held Tues., Aug. 27 Well-Known Resident of Ogemaw County Dies At Son's Residence, Sunday Mrs. Sophia Wangler, seventy-year old life-long resident of Ogemaw county, died at the home of her son, Clarence, early Sunday morning, August 25th, following a twenty-five year illness. Mrs. Wangler was born in Canada, May 7, 1876. She came to Ogemaw county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Mier, in 1880. She was married to Frank Wangler who preceded her in death twenty-two years ago. Mrs. Wangler had been a resident of Ogemaw county for sixty-six years and was well-known throughout this entire region. Surviving her are her three sons, Clarence, Clyde, and Charles, of West Branch; two brothers George and Gus Mier, of West Branch; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, August 27, interment was in St. Joseph's from St. Joseph's Church. Rev Fr. U. A. Miller officiated, and cemetery."
