In Farina, Ill., July 4, 1883, Silas W. Davis. The deceased was born in Berlin, Rensselaer Co., N. Y., Feb. 13, 1813, and died as above, aged 70 years and 5 months, nearly. He had been sorely afflicted for some years with his unpleasant malady. He lay several days entirely unconscious of all his surroundings. He was married in Berlin to Miss H. E. Carpenter. He removed from there to Walworth, Wis., in 1856, and from there to Farina in 1864. He was a pioneer settler in this section, and has remained here since. He was baptized, and joined the Berlin Church, and never removed his membership. Though he never was very active in religious meetings, yet he always entertained a hope of acceptance with God. W. H. E.
