Shadrach Estep Sr. was born on 10 April 1760, in Frederick, Maryland, British Colonial America, his father, John Estep, was 22 and his mother, Mary Asher, was 19. He married Katherine Mary Elizabeth Lane in 1783, in North Carolina, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Floyd, Kentucky, United States in 1810 and Ashe, North Carolina, United States in 1830. He died in 1840, in Kanawha, Virginia, United States, at the age of 80.
