Alta Advertiser, Alta, Buena vista County, Iowa July 8, 1920 Sarah Smith, daughter of James Francis Smith and Sarah McGilvary Smith was born near toronto, Ontaio, Canada, on June 22 1858, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S.A. Anderson at Klemme, Iowa, on June 28, 1920 at the age of 62 years and 6 days. She came with her parents to Alta, Iowa in March of 1877, settling on a farm one mile norht of this place. She was united in marriage with James diller on March 10, 1882 [sic - 1879}, her husband preceding her to the better life two years ago. Their four children are left to mourn the death of a loving mother. They are Clare diller of Lincoln, CA; Mrs. S. A. Anderson of Klemme, IA; gilbert Earl Diller of sioux City and Mrs. Ernest Peterson of Manly, IA. She is survived also by one sister, Mrs. Mary Kellar of Sioux city, and five brothers: A.C. Smith of storm Lake, J.H. Smith of alta, F.J. Smith of LeMars, O.R. Smith of Boston, MA; and D.A. Smith of Los Angeles, CA. She united with the Wesleyan Methodist church of toronto in early childhood and later with the Presbyterian church of this place. She was a faitful and devout member of the church, a loyal, ernest christian and a devoted mother, living for her home and children. Mrs. Diller was of a quiet, helpful disposition and leaves an empty place. During her last sever illness she found great comfort in the words of Her Savious and died happy in the chirtian faith. The funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church on Thursday afternoon by Rev. W.c. Rowlands, the pastor. Interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery beside the body of her husband. Relatives attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Anderson and children of Klemme, Mrs. Ernest Peterson of Manyly, Earl Diller of sioux City, F.J. Smithf of LeMrs, Mrs. and MRs. A.C. Smith and daughter, Miss Ethel of Storm Lake, Mrs. Mary Kellar of Sioux city and Mrs. Walter Kellar of Cherokee. |
