Sarah Moles was baptised on 22nd March 1807 at Willian in Hertfordshire, daughter of Mary Ann Moles, formerly Best, and her husband Thomas Moles, an agricultural labourer. The family had only recently moved to Willian; Sarah's elder brother William had been baptised in 1804 at Stotfold a couple of miles to the north. Sarah's baptism is the family's first sighting in Willian.
On 10th May 1828, when she was 21 years old, Sarah married a labourer named Joshua Draper, who was originally from the neighbouring parish of Weston, but had moved to Willian prior to their marriage. Sarah and Joshua appear in the 1841 census in Willian with their three young children. They were still in the village come 1851, with Sarah described as a "platting maker", indicating that she worked in the straw plait industry prevalent in the area.
Between 1830 and 1849 Sarah and Joshua appear to have had eight children born at Willian.
Sarah died in 1852 and was buried on 11th December 1852 at Willian, where she had lived her whole life. She was 45, and both her parents outlived her. Joshua was left with the eight children to look after, the youngest of whom was only a couple of years old. Joshua outlived Sarah by just under a decade.
