Sarah Meakins was born in 1841 at Southwark in the southern suburbs of London. She was the daughter of Hannah Meakins, formerly Goodge, and her husband John Meakins, a labourer.

Sarah’s mother died in 1845, when Sarah was four years old.

Sarah died in 1849, when she was only eight years old.
