Given this, and the fact that Halsey is a very common variation of the name Halsell, I think that the Halsey wife of Thomas Cloyd named by Dr. Cloyd was the daughter of Thomas Halsell, but her name was Sarah instead of Nancy. This has been verified from some very brief abstracts of records given on the Internet for Cumberland Co, KY, including Deed Book E (1824-1825) in which Thomas Cloyd and wife Sally deeded land to John Scott, so indeed the wife of Thomas Cloyd was Sally/Sarah. In Deed Book C (1815-1816), Nenian Cloyd and wife Mary gave their entire estate to son Thomas Cloyd. I assume that wife Mary at that time was still Mary Kincaid. In Deed Book B (1810-1812), Thomas Halsell and wife Elizabeth deeded land to Charles Carter.
