Facts and Events
Name Sarah Dunn
Gender Female
Birth? 12 Apr 1773 NJ
Marriage 27 Sep 1798 to Cornelius Van Horne
Death? Mar 1847 Crawford, Pennsylvania, United States

Was she the mother of Elizabeth Van Horne (EVH)? Cornelius Van Horne (CVH)'s memoirs mention all his children but EVH. Andrew Jackson Sloan (son of EVH) reported to the "History of Crawford Co." (copy in possession of Steven Houser) in 1885 that CVH was his GF; AJS was 15 when CVH died - surely old enough to know what was going on - he would not report his GF to have been CVH for no reason. No direct claim to Sarah Dunn is made though...what if she is not the mother of EVH? What if EVH is the product of CVH and an unknown woman - perhaps a slave?

This note is essentially for the large number of Dunn researchers out there that will dispute any connection between the Dunn and Sloan (i.e., EVH-Sloan) lines - I admit the chance of CVH not reporting his 1st daughter in his will is unlikely - unless she were illegitimate (e.g., slave's child) - S Houser
