Sadie Rouse Dies At Albia Friday
Sarah (Sadie) Alice, Rouse was born Aug. 4, 1890, a daughter of Anna Belle Main Coulson and Francis Howgel Coulson on a farm west of Moravia, and died Dec. 12, 1975, at the Monroe County Hospital.
On Sept. 15, 1915, she was united in marriage with Lewis C. Rouse. To this union four children were born: Alvin, Louise, Doris and Verna.
She lived most of her life in the Hilton community where she was an active member of the Hilton Methodist Church and the Hilton Ladies Aid. For many years she taught a Sunday School class.
Since moving to Albia she has attended the First Christian Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Louise (Mrs. Luke Carlson), Mechnicsburg, Penn., Doris (Mrs. Robert Stout) of Keota, la., Verna Rouse of Omaha, Nebr., one sister Mrs. Arlie (Ted) Wilson of Moravia and five grandchildren: Kent Stout, Colorado Springs, Colo., Rob Stout, student at Ames, David, Sarah Jane and Elizabeth Carlson of Mechanicsburg, Penn., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis in 1971 and son, Alvin in 1936. Also one brother Carl Coulson and two sisters, Edna Johnson and Frances Zahniser.
Services were held Sunday, Dec. 14 in the Humeston Funeral Home with her pastor, Rev. Laverne Leigh, pastor of First Christian Church of Albia officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.
