Research Notes

Important Note: Theory Disproved - Why Hosea Rose was NOT the 2nd husband of Sarah (Bradford) Taylor.

Originally presented by family member M.B. Aston of Goldfield, Nevada in ca. 1945, this theory took hold and was published repeatedly in later articles and genealogies of the Bradford/Taylor/Rose families, including many online family trees. Carl George (2007) provides a detailed account of the origin of this theory and how it has since been disproved.

For additional information, see Tennessee Ancestors, Aug 2007.

... Sarah, also a daughter of John and Mary (Marr) Bradford, and named in her mother's will, married (1) by 1754, William Taylor, brother of Lazarus, who had married her sister, Hannah. Presumably William did not live long, for when Mary Bradford made her will in 1774, Sarah had married (2) ___ Rose, by whom she is said to have had several children, whose names are unknown to this writer. ...
