According to the Sallie DeWitt 1981 genealogy (page 10), Sarah's husband (Charles Henry DeWitt) had taken Sarah in a covered wagon to see a doctor in either Fort Smith or Greenwood Arkansas, to be treated for breast cancer. She died on the way home (date unknown). She was said to be of Pennsylvania-Dutch stock, and it is known she was born in Pennsylvania only from Amos T. DeWitt's listing in the 1910 U.S. census in Franklin County, Hurricane Twp., Arkansas. The 1870 census entry in Franklin Co. Arkansas for Sarah states that she was born in Ohio, like her husband. The 1850 census entry for Howard Co., Centre Twp, Indiana also states that she was born in Ohio.

In a 2/13/1878 letter written to Sarah by her brother Daniel Boraker and his wife Nancy W., they are unsure whether to mail the letter to Web City, Charleston or Sub Rosa, Arkansas (copy of the letter in the Sallie DeWitt 1981 genealogy, page 11E). The letter refers to' Sally', which may have been a nickname for Sarah. It talks about dividing 'Father's estate' between nine children.

Sarah Boraker DeWitt was interred at King Cemetery near Grand Prarie, Franklin Co., Arkansas.
