  6. An alternative International Genealogical Index for Sarah Allen indicates that she was born in "Aldridge, Staffordshire, England".
  7. Sarah's ship's manifest recorded her age at 34 in the year 1855. This source would place her birth year at 1821.
  8. Sarah Attwood died at the Philadelphia Almshouse and Hospital.
  9. Although Joseph, Sarah, and Elizabeth Atwood all appear to have been born in England, their ship's manifest suggests that they "severally belonged" to the United States at the time of their 1855 immigration. Perhaps the family went back and forth between America and England more than once before they finally settled here in 1855.
