    SARA ROBERTA GETTY - Mrs Araa Roberta Getty 92, Somerset, newspaperwoman for nearly half a century. died Jan 12th, 1972, in Allegheny Lutheran Home in Johnstown, PA. She began her career as woman's deitor of the cumberland (MD)Daily News and workd there from 1924-1942. Since then she spent 30yrs as a feaature writer, reporter and columnist for the Somerset Daily American. She was also the author of 4 books of poetry. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Somerset, PA she was also a meember of the Nat'l League of American Pen Women, Somerset Business & Professional Women's Club, the Garden Club, Somerset Welfare League, the Crippled Children's Society and was a past member of the board of directors of the Somerset County Cancer Society. Born in Wellersburg, she was daughter of the late Joachim C. & Ellen Jane (Martin) Marten (sic). She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles B. Getty formerly of Grantsville, infant twin sons, a grandson and 2 sisters. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs E.H. Reppert of Bridgeport, WV and Mrs. E.E.Criswell of Clarksburg, WV; 5 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs Flora Winebrenner of Mt.Savage, MD. Funeral service was conducted Monday morning at Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home in Somerset, with Rev.George Bowersox, officiating. Interment in Frostburg Memorial Park in Frostburg, MD
