Also have a record in a Surveyor's Record Book #3 at page 188 in Lewisburg, Greebrier County, Virginia in 1798 26 acres on Muddy Creek. Court records at Greenbrier, West Virginia show that Samuel McCorkle died 28 Dec 1856 of consumption. Listed wife as was Julia and parents as Samuel and Elizabeth McCorkle.

There were six children of this union , as shown by a sale of land of Samuel McCorkle Jr. And his wife Julia in 1835 where they conveyed 1/6 interest to John Conner, this being part of the property belonging to Samuel Sr. A sale of land to John Conner by Samuel Jr., and Julia in 1835 shows they were conveying their interest of 1/6. This being part of the property of Samuel Sr. According to C.R. McCorkle (his grandson) he lived his life on the Greenbrier River, near Alderson, West Virginia and was a successful farmer and eminent citizen. He was born in Greenbrier County and lived there all his life. Also had grist mill, according to Clara , and when he died his wife and Maston, the youngest son , ran the grist mill. The other boys went off to war two for the south and two for the north. Greenbrier County Tax List do not show any McCorkle for the years 1782 to 1799. First showing is in 1815 showing Samuel McCorkle with 1 tithable 9 horses and 25 cows. On 24 Aug 1853 Samuel purchased one hundred three acres (103)of land from Jacob & Jane Johnson, County of Monroe State of Virginia on the North side of the Greenbrier River adjoining the land of James McHaynes being a part of the survey patented to Frederick Stoner.
