↑ A death record in Reading for a Samuel Damon, who d. at Boston 11 Dec 1830, is sometimes mistaken for this Samuel (e.g., Source:Sweetser, Philip Starr. Seth Sweetser and His Descendants, p. 199), because the age at death specified in the record, (47th year) suggests a birth 1783. However, Samuel was named in his father's will of 1832, and signed a receipt in 1845. So clearly, it was a different Samuel Damon who died in 1830. (Humorously, the gravestone cited is pictured on Find A Grave. The memorial page does not seem to fall into the trap of identifying the wrong Samuel, but reports a birth in 1793, apparently both doing the math wrong, and miserporting the 1783 birth of Daniel and Lydia's son Samuel that is found in the Reading records.)
