Sally Sue Johnson Moye, 59, of 306 W. 2nd St. S., died of complications of Lou Gehrig's Disease at the home of her daughter, Pamela Schneider, in Cedar Rapids Saturday, April 13, 1996.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton. Father Ernest Braida of the church will be the celebrant.

Memorials to a fund for the purpose of seeking a cure for Lou Gehrig's Disease will be accepted.

Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. today at the church. There will be a wake service at 7 p.m. today with visitation with the family following the wake service. Reese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements but no visitation will be held at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Survivors are three daughters, Pam (Mrs. Dan) Schneider of Cedar Rapids, Kelly (Mrs. George) Jones of Fisher, Ind., and Sue (Mrs. Alan) Avitt of Des Moines; a son, David of Fairview Heights, Ill.; a brother, Ross Johnson of Newton; a sister, Kay Shaw of Vista, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James, April 8, 1989.

Mrs. Moye was a supervisor at the Jasper County Department of Human Services for 12 years and a homemaker.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a Stephen minister, RCIA leader, a parish board member and was an avid reader, gardener, walker, card player and piano player.

The daughter of LeRoy and Lillian Otterpohl Johnson, she was born May 6, 1936 in Des Moines.

She was graduated from Iowa State University in Ames with a degree in dietetics and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.

She was married to James Robert Moye Dec. 29, 1958 in Denison.

She resided in Herndon, Va., for 15 years before moving to Newton.
