James R. Moye, 50, of 306 W. 2nd St. S., a resident of Newton since 1979, died Saturday morning, April 8, at Skiff Medical Center after an extended illness following a stroke.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Christian wake services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Reese Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions to a fund in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Sally; a son, David, a student at Iowa State University in Ames; three daughters, Kelly (Mrs. George) Jones of Saginaw, Mich., Sue Anne (Mrs. Glen) Hall of Des Moines and Pamela (Mrs. Dan) Schneider of Cedar Rapids; and three grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Michael Moye of Leesburg, Va.; and three sisters, Patty Duncan of Utah, Mary Hansen of Yankton, S.D., and Mildy Waterfall of Oakton, Va.; and his mother, Evelyn Moye of Yankton, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Moye, a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Newton Optimist Club, Cardinal Booster Club and a member and past president of the Retail Jewelers Organization, had been very active in various church groups and activities.

Mr. Moye, president of RJO Inc., of Newton prior to his illness, had been a sales representative for Concept Marketing Inc, and Mid-West.

The son of John J. and Evelyn German Moye, he was born May 26, 1938 at Deadwood, S.D.

He was married to Sally Johnson Dec. 29, 1958 at Denison.

Mr. Moye also had resided in a number of other areas including Springfield, Va., and in Herndon, Va., for 10 years prior to coming to Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, April 10, 1989
