NAPLES, Fla. -- Ruth M. Papineau, 94, Naples, formerly of Michigan City, died at 11:59 a.m. Monday (Feb. 16, 2004) at Naples Community Hospital.

A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Michigan City, with the Rev. James McGrogan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Home.

Mrs. Papineau was born Nov. 12, 1909, in Topeka, Kan. On July 12, 1928, in Michigan City, she married Ashley I. "Pat" Papineau, who died Oct. 29, 1989.

Survivors include two sons, William (Linda) Papineau, Naples, and Rick J. Papineau, D.D.S., Largo, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Paula Papineau, Naples; and two sisters-in-law, Flossie Tortorici and Dorothy Troth, both of Michigan City.

She was preceded in death by one son, Ashley "Pat" Papineau.

Mrs. Papineau was a homemaker. She was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Michigan City. She took up golf at age 64 so as to be a playing partner to her husband Pat in his retirement and truly loved the game. She was also a very avid card player that everyone marveled at.
