    RONALD E. DEAL, 57, lifelong resident of Belle Plaine, Kansas passed away Thursday afternoon, June 26, 2014.

    Born November 6, 1956 in Wellington, Kansas, he was the son of John Lafeyette and Mary Jane (Rothgeb) Deal. He was raised and received his education in Belle Plaine and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1974. He received an Associates Degree in Business Management through Brown-Mackie College. Ron worked for various retail outlets, including TG&Y and Sears. He later worked for the Crown UpTown for 28 years as an Administrative Assistant.

    He was a member of the Belle Plaine United Methodist Church and was an advisor to the Boy Scouts on a district level. He was a coordinator for the Walnut Valley Festival where he managed the stages and signage. He was a volunteer with the Cowley County Fair. He enjoyed going to auctions, people watching and collecting stuff. He had a passion for Hallmark ornaments and was a veracious reader.

    His family includes: His constant feline companion: Bella; His brother: Larry Deal and wife, Kay of Claremore, OK and their children Michael and Brandon; His sisters: Judy Fortune and her children Chris Fortune and Keysha and husband, Justin O'Donohue; and Keysha's children Logan and Mikayla all of Blue Springs, MO; Karen Deal and good friend, Sarah Emrick and Sarah's mom, Helen all of Winfield; His foster sister: Mary Herridge of Wichita and her children, Sherry Beltz of Wichita and Jean Wage and Debbie Dunn of Belle Plaine;

    Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

    A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Belle Plaine United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

    In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made in Ron's name to the Winfield Fair Grounds Improvement Fund or to Gentiva Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
