    John Lafayette Deal, 87, Fredonia, KS, formerly of Belle Plaine, OK, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born April 21, 1919, in Fredonia, the son of Charles Daniel and Lula Ross Deal.
    He retired in 1984 from Boeing Aircraft Company after 32 years.
    On May 24, 1953, in Arkansas, he married Mary Jane Rothgeb. She preceded him in death Sept. 8, 1991. On Dec. 23, 1993, in Fredonia, he married Violet McMurray. She preceded him in death Jan. 25, 2006.
    Survivors include two sons, Larry Deal, Claremore, OK, and Ronald Deal, Belle Plaine, OK.; two daughters, Judy Fortune, Blue Springs, MO, and Karen Deal, Winfield, KS; one foster child, Mary Herridge, Wichita, KS; four sisters, Lois Ferguson and Zana Meadows, both of Fredonia, KS, Ruth Scarth, Farnsworth, TX, and Ila May, Pratt, KS; one brother, Clyde Deal, Hiawatha, IA; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    Funeral was 10:30 a.m. today, June 20, at the First Christian Church in Fredonia. Burial took place in the Jackson Cemetery near New Albany, KS.
    A memorial has been established in his name with the First Christian Church and may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, P.O. Box 168, Fredonia, KS 66736.
