Information on Robert (Roger) Terrell (Tyrell)

Robert Tyrrell (or Roger Terrell shown in the Baldwin Pedigree in Ba13) was believed to have been the son of William Tyrrell (Te13) and Margaret Richmond (Ri13), but an article by John M. Tyrrill, Chairman of the Tyrrell Family History Society in that society’s newsletter in March 1996 (vol. 19, no. 1, pp. 8-9) called “The American Connection—Part 2,” in which he showed very convincingly that Robert Terrell (who married Jane Baldwin) was a son of William (?-1587) and Elizabeth Terrell, of West Hagbourne, Berkshire; and not of Sir William Terrell and Margaret Richmond, as had been generally believed until then. William Terrell (?-1587??) was a son of David Terrell (?-1578) of West Hagbourne, who in turn was a son of Robert (?-1545) and Agnes Terrell of West Hagbourne, according to John M. Tyrrill’s study of wills and parish registers. O.F. Brown (The Tyrrells of England; Chapter Nine, Printed in Terrell Trails, Summer 1996). He offers clear evidence that Robert's father is, as we show here, William Tyrrold (or Tirroll) a clothier of Reading, England.

From the "Terrell Trails": "The legatees of the will of Robert Tirroll of Reading, Clothier, dated 1643, were his wife Jane, his sons, Robert, Richmond, William, Timothy & John, his daughters Marie & Margaret. He had married Jane Baldwin in Reading, St. Giles on 29th June 1617. There appears little doubt that these three brothers, David, Francis & Robert were the sons of William of West Hagbourne."

8. William TERRILL born on 22 Jun 1629. He died in 1680. m Martha x and had William and Mary chr 24 Jan 1654 in St.Mary's, Reading, England.

9. Timothy TERRELL, christened on 22 Jun 1631 in St.Giles Parish, Reading, England. He died in 1656.
