[edit] Abstract of the Will of Robert Stevens"Robert Steven of Ford, yeoman, will dated 16 Dec. 1627, gives to the poor of Brixton 20s. Mentions a messuage in Brixton, called Slowe, granted to me by Francys Drake and Elizabeth his mother for 99 years, if Tristram, Thomas, and William Steven, my sons, shall live so long. To wife Dewence said messuage for life with reversion at her death to my son Tristram, he paying to my daughters Dewence and Lydia Steven £20 each at 22. To my son Thomas household goods in the house of my son John. To daughters Dewence and Lydia £40 each at 21. To son John Steven. To all my children's children except Andrew Shepheard a 'daye' sheep each. To Anne Forde, daughter of Phillip, 20s. To Robert, son of John Steven. Residuary legatee and executrix, wife Dewence. Executors with my wife: Thomas Maynard of Sherford, gent., and my son William Steven. Witnesses: Nicholas Mayne, Henry Baker, John Walter. William Stevan, Phillip Forde, John Easton.
