    Death of an Old Citizen
The sad death of Robert Muir takes from our midst a most valuable citizen. During the early days of Salina, he was among the foremost in her advancement and up to the time of his death he always took an active interest in her welfare. He was an honest, upright, and industrious citizen.

Mr Muir was born in Scotland in 1828, and came to this country in 1859, taking up a claim in the Smoky hill Valley, where he has always made his home. Mr. Muir came to this country a poor man, but by his untiring labors and good judgment he amassed a large fortune. He leaves a wife and seven children and a large number of friends to mourn his loss. The funeral services will be held in the residence this afternoon at l o'clock.

The last sad rites over the remains of the late Robert Muir were held at l o'clock yesterday afternoon at the residence of the deceased, north of the city. The house was filled to over flowing with friends who had gathered to pay their respects to the memory of the departed. The Congregational choir sang a beautiful anthem and then Rev Mucklow of the congregational church, delivered an impressive sermon, dwelling up the good and noble traits in the character of the departed. The procession to the grave was one of the longest that has ever entered Gypsum Hill Cemetery, there being over eighty-five carriages in the line. Arriving at the grave, Rev Mucklow pronounced the closing ceremony and the remains of Robert Muir were lowered into the last resting place. The officers and directors of the Salina National bank attended the funeral in body
