[Robert McCuiston

This may be Robert McCuiston of Rowan County NC, as described in Source:Adams, 2009 See Footnote 170, p.129, of that work for evidence supporting this.

Overview

Robert, James and Thomas McQuiston, Three of the sons of John McQuiston and Isabella Crelon, of Ireland, immigrated to America in 1735. Roberted apparently kept a memorandum book in which he noted "Landed in America at New Castle on the 6 of august 1735- -written September ye 14 1735 Robert mcCuiston."[1]

The family may have remained in eastern PA for sometime, but perhaps moved westward into Lancaster County at a fairly early date. In any case, Robert acquired land warrants in Cumberland County (West Penssboro) in 1752 and 1754, [2] He appears on the 17XX tax assessment for Cumberland County. In 1765 he sold his land in Pennsylvania to William Gillespie, and others. At some point previous to that he had moved to Rowan County NC, Here he obtained land on both sides of the Reedy fork of Haw River, and on Horsepen Creek from his brother James. He died the same year he sold his land in Cumberland County.
