This note is from Dennis Tierney: " Bob was very mucically talented. A story in the family relates that on at least one occassion, at about age 9, his parents had put him to bed with his older siblings at home. The parents went out for entertainment at an establishment with an amateur talent evening. One of the acts turned out to be their son, Bob, who had climbed out the window and walked to the club to participate!" He says he was a piano player.

Robert left the home and set off on his own right after 8th grade.

Another descendant thinks there was a major family rift with Robert Arthur marrying a Catholic: Catherine LaFleur. They married when he was 19.
