    VI. Robert Alexander Gilcrest; Born May 28th, 1850, at Paintersville, Greene County, Ohio. Brought up on the farm in Union County, Ohio, and Marshall County, Illinois. Educated at Eureka College, Eureka, Illinois, and Butler College, Indianapolis, Indiana, A. B. and A. M. Taught in common and graded schools eight years. Entered the ministry in 1879. Served churches at Albion, Lincoln and Watseka, Illinois, and Centerville, Iowa. Was President of West Kentucky College, at Mayfield, Kentucky, 1888 and 1889. Professor of Mental Sciences and Philosophy and in Bible Department of Eureka College, Eureka, Illinois, from 1895 to 1900.
    Married Sarah Ann Kylander April 16th, 1874, in Marshall County, Illinois. Sarah was born July 4th, 1851, at Georgetown, Brown County, Ohio. She died February 3rd, 1880, at Albion, Illinois. There were three children of this marriage, two surviving.
