!OBITUARY; Robert Theodore Duncan crosses the great divide.

Robert Theodore Duncan, "Dora" as he was familiarly known, was called in death at an early hour last Thursday morning at his home on south Gonser Avenue. The immediate cause of his death was due to leakage of the heart.

Mr. Duncan had been failing for some time, and yet his going was a severe shock, not only to the immediate family but to the community as well. He was well known over a wide territory for he bought livestock for a number of years, and also he was in frequent demand as a Singer sewing machine man, knew the intricate workings of the mechanism, and was able to easily remedy the trouble, and took a great deal of pleasure in doing so. Robert Theodore Duncan, son of George J. and Mary B. Duncan, was born in Ohio, Nov 28, 1848 and died at his home in Ashley, August 23, 1923; aged 74 years, 8 months and 25 days. He was the youngest of a family of 12 children all proceeding him but one, James R., who resides in Tecumseh, Michigan. He was united in marriage to Florence Wilson, December 28, 1871. To this union was born one son, Andrew W. Duncan. His wife departing this life , January 4, 1878, he was again united in marriage with Sarah A. Freed, June 29, 1879. He leaves to mourn: the wife, son, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church, Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, in charge of the pastor, Rev R. W. Newell, who was assisted by Rev. S. R. Aldrich and Rev. John H. Urey; interment being made in the Waterloo cemetery.

Duncan, son of George J. Duncan, was born in Holmes County, Ohio, in 1848. He came with his parents to DeKalb County and remained with them till their death. Since his father's death in 1870, he has lived on the old homestead, a sister, Margaret Duncan also making her home with him. He has been married twice. His first wife Florence Wilson, came to DeKalb County from Ohio with her mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Wilson, her father having died in Ohio. Mrs. Duncan died January 4, 1878 leaving one son, Andrew W. Mr. Duncan subsequently married Sarah Ann Freed, daughter of Peter Freed of Smithfield township.
