Robert Bristow of London, merchant, son of Major Robert Bristow,formerly of Gloster County, Virginia, made a power of attorney in1709, to Thomas Booth of Gloster County, to sell his property andplantations in Virginia. (York County Records). One Thomas Boothstill controlled the Bristow estate in 1772, when William Nelsonsolicited the agency for Col. Robert Tucker, of Norfolk, who hadsuffered heavily from a great fire. (Nelson MSS. Letter Book atEpiscopal Theological Seminary.) The Bristow estate was shortlycinfiscated by the Virginia goverment on the ground that the Bristowswere aliens. (See Quarterly II., July Number for an Account of theBristow family and arms.)
