    Richard E.Leathers entered peacefully into rest in Castro Valley on August 26, 2001. He was 81. A native of Iowa, born on October 9, 1919, Richard was a retired research supervisor for Del Monte Foods. He was a horticulturist and enjoyed leather working. Richard was a longtime San Leandro resident and a member of Manor Baptist Church since 1960. He is survived by his devoted sons, Richard E. Leathers Jr. and Roger A. Leathers, both of San Leandro; sister, Dorothy Cedergren of Texas; grandchildren, David, John, Janet, Judy, Peter, Andrew, Timothy, Teddy and Edgar; great grandson, Nathan and many loving extended family and friends. Visitation for Richard will be Friday from 10 am to 11 am at Grissom's San Lorenzo Chapel/Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. Graveside services begin noon at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette. A celebration of Richard's life will be held Saturday, 2 PM, at Manor Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Manor Baptist Church, 1845 Lewelling Blvd., San Leandro, Ca 94579.
