    Ralph Raymond Leathers

    Ralph Raymond Leathers, 72, 2296 Highway 34 East, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, 1997, at Jefferson County Hospital.

    The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Royar and Rev. Denny Coon officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.

    Leathers was born Oct. 8, 1924 in Fairfield, the son of Alvin E. and Nellie Ehrhardt Leathers. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1942. Following his mother's death, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Enolia King Leathers. He married Mary Helen Gorman on Aug. 1, 1943, at Kahoka, Mo. They were celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary at the time of his death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eagles Lodge, Moose Lodge in Mount Pleasant and the First National Bank Heritage Club.

    Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Wahl of Fairfield and Barbara McCleary of Lake Ozark, Mo.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Cedargren of Houston; and two brothers, Richard of San Leandro, Calif., and Harold of Mesa, Ariz.

    In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his father, stepmother and twin daughters.
