  2. Source:Pierce, Frederick Clifton. Foster Genealogy, p. 527, shows Abigail m. (2) Nathaniel Foster. He gives a death date for Richard Billings of 20 Nov 1748, despite the fact that the record having this date in Source:Arnold, James. Vital Record of Rhode Island, 1636–1850 clearly belongs to Richard's father (the birth date of 1674 accompanies the record). Further, Nathaniel and Abigail Foster m. 28 Jul 1748 and had a child 15 Jun 1749, which should have alerted him that this wasn't the right death date.

In fact, it appears, this Abigail may not have married Nathaniel Foster at all. NEHGR, p. 91:373 agrees at first, saying she "may have been the Abigail Billings of Little Compton who married there, 28 July 1748, Nathaniel Feston" [as the marriage record is spelled], but after the last installment, the same article, on p. 92:349, updates this to say she was not the Abigail Billings who married 28 Jul 1748 Nathaniel Foster. Unfortunately no evidence for the change is given, the correction is merely asserted.

Source:Wilbour, Benjamin Franklin. Little Compton Families, p. 44, says Abigail's estate was administered in Newport 1 Nov 1762, inventoried 26 Dec 1762, without mentioning any 2nd marriage, which would be quite an oversight if her name was Abigail Foster, as Pierce's assertion implies. Source:Woodman, Helen Denny. Woodmans of Rhode Island, p. 7, says it was Richards estate administered 1 Nov 1762 and inventory 26 Dec 1762 (which would still rule out the 2nd marriage, her first husband being alive past 1748) and that Abigail d. 15 Aug 1764. This is probably the correct arrangement, as there is a gravestone that suggests it is so.
