According to an IGI report, Richard Palmer Adsit was the son of Renssellaer Adsit and Margaret Thompson. He married Sarah Ann Phew (1834-1903) and had 4 children: Nancy Evalena 1858, m. L. G. Colebank; Frank J. 1859 m. Sarah Ann Kipp; Josie 1860; and Dell 1862. He may also have married Rose Wright.

 I believe his wife may have been Sarah 'Sally' Pugh, sister to James Crawford Pugh who married Richard's sister Mary.
 In the 1860 census for Crabapple, Iroquois Co., Illinois, Palmer 'Alzit' is 27, farmer from Ohio; with Sarah 25 Indiana; Nancy A. 4; Elizabeth J. 2; and George M. 2 months -- all born Illinois.  John Adsit is 20 born Indiana. {p. 244 roll 186 HeritageQuest} They are next door to Kendall Shankland.
 In the 1870 census for Douglas township, p.o. Gilman (?), Iroquois Co., Illinois, Palmer Adsit is 37, a farmer from Ohio.  His wife Sarah is also 37, born Indiana.  Their children are Eviline, 14; Josephine, 12; Frank, 10; and Amanda, 3 -- all born in Illinois.  {p.285} They are next door to Kendall Shankland.
 In the 1880 census for Madison, Greenwood Co., Kansas, 'Parmer Adrito' is a farmer, age 47 from Ohio, (father New York, mother Ohio).  His wife Sarah is 46, born Indiana (father Tennessee, mother Ohio)  The children are Frank J. 20, farm hand; and Amanda I. 13 -- both born Illinois, father Ohio, mother Indiana. {p.317c} Their daughter Eveline and husband are also in Madison.
 In the 1900 census for Greenwood, Madison, Kansas, 'Parmer' and Sarah show 4 of 7 children living; in 1910 in Garden City, Finney Co., Kansas, Palmer is listed as a widower.
