"Reuben Tremain (36) bp 12 July 1761, Gt. Barrington, son of Benjamin and Rhoda (Pier) Tremain, no record of marriage. He served in Revolutionary War in 1777. He is probably the Reuben Trimain who was indicted for treason in 1787, in connection with Shay's Rebellion. Records indicating disposition of his case have not been located. It was not uncommon for participants in the Rebellion to move to other states and assume new identities. Perhaps he did."
