Burial: Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation: Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Behr's Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Rosary/Wake Service: There will be a parish wake service at 6:30 on Wednesday, at Behr's Funeral Home. Date/Place of Birth: Regina was born on November 16, 1924, in Rickardsville, Iowa, daughter of John and Gertrude (Schadler) Backes. Brief Personal Information: Jean married Glen J. Bughman on August 30, 1952, at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on August 8, 1963. She later married Melvin Matous on December 10, 1998, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque; he preceded her in death on November 30, 2004. Jean worked at A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co. for 10 years and for the Dubuque Community School District in the hot lunch program at Audubon School for 10 years. She also worked in environmental services at Stonehill Care Center for 18 years until her retirement in 1998. Jean was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Rosary Society and Mother's Club. She was also a member of the Dubuque Bowling Association. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing and following the Chicago Cubs. Her greatest joy was spending time with and caring for her family. (Penny) Bughman, of Asbury, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; Chris and Anne Becker, Jennifer (Bob) Schultz, David (Lisa) Buelow, Lauren, Katie, and Rachel Galliart, Andrew, Cody and Emily Bughman, Kelly (Rob) Smith, Alex and Nick Wright-Broughton, Erin and Abbey Bughman and 3 great-grandchildren; Justin and Joey Schultz, and Sam Buelow 4 stepchildren, Donna (John) Berg, of East Dubuque, Ill., Nancy (Ken) Clayton, of Sherrill, Iowa, Helen (Ken) Heacock, of Dubuque, Melvin (Judy) Matous, Jr. of East Dubuque, Ill.; 11 step grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Stella Backes, of Dubuque; Carol (Charlie) Johnson, Colorado Springs, CO and several nieces and nephews Preceded in death: 3 brothers, Leonard (Barbara), Alfred (Barbara) and Raymond (Charlotte) Backes Memorials: A Regina A.
