    KNOW ALL MEN by these prsents that I REBECCA TRAVERSE of the County of Rappae; Widdo, doe by these prsents for diverse consideration give unto my welbeloved Sister, MARY THURMAN, Widd,, one white Mare comonly known by the name of Betty with all her increase onely reserving to my selfe the first foale she shall bring either male or female,.
    :I doe likewise give to her my said Sister one Servant that shall have the full time of the Custome of the Country to serve, to be delivered as soon as with convenience I shall purchase one, both wch I give to her heires or asignes for her & their propper use & behoofe,.
    :I doe likewise give to my Sonne, RAWLEIGH TRAVERSE, one young Mare being the Colt of a Mare commonly called Powell:.
    :I doe likewise give to my Sonne, WM: TRAVERSE, two heiffers neare 3 yeares old each hereby consenting him marke them of his own mke: wch is an underkeele and hole in each eare:.
    :I doe likewise give unto my God Daughter, REBECCA BONGE, one breeding Mare & one breeding SAW to he delivered unto her either at the day Of my decease or the day of her marriadge wch shall first happen, and at the delivery of them all their increase, both male and female..
    :I doe likewise give unto SAMLL. GERRARD, one young horse about 3 yeares old commonly called Prince; to the performacne of each particular Gift withall their increase to them their heirs or assignes I doe bind me my heires firmeley by these prsents..

    THIS INDENTURE made the fourteenth day of November 1679 Between JOHN RICE of Virginia, Merchant. and REBECCA TRAVERS of the County of Rappae: Widdo., of the one part and LEROY GRIFFIN & WILLIAM LOYD both of the said County of Rappae: of the othr: part, Whereas there is a MARRIAGE by Gods grace intended to be solemnized between the said JOHN & REBECCA. Therefore Witnesseth that the sd REBECCA TRAVERS (by & wth ye consent of sd JOHN RICE testifyeth by his being party to these prsents) path granted unto the sd LEROY GRIFFIN & WM. LOYD all the Negroes cattle & goode herein mentioned (Vizt) one Negro called Sawing Turk & Marie his accounted Wife wth hir Child, Mingo; one other Negro and Alice the accounted Wife of Nero, one other Negro called Snagg and Bess his accounted Wife & issue of them & every of them (wch God shall send) and alsoe one Sorrell Mare & one other Negro called Powell with their increase and the sd REBECCAs Riding Nagg & likewise twelve milch cows, twenty Ewes, twelve breeding sowes to be taken and culled out of the stock of cattle flock of sheep and hoggs now remaining aboute the Plantation of sd REBECCA TRAVERS situate near FARNHAM CREEK in the sd County, and alsoe two fether Beds (wth other houshold furnishings) and alsoe one Silver Tankard and one large Silver Salt, Six Silver trencher Salts, one Silver Sugr, dish, Eighteen Silver spoons, a Silver Bottle with a Silver funnel (other Silver items), all wch several goods houshold stuff & Silver Plate are now being in or about the dwelling house of sd REBECCA TRAVERS belonging to the sd Plantacon To have and to hold unto the sd LEROY GRIFFIN & WM. LOYD for the only use of the sd REBECCA TRAVERS & to whome she shall hereafter at her own will & pleasure give & dispose in writing undr: her hande and Seale and for noe other uses.and the said JOHN RICE for himself doth grant the sd LEROY GRIFFIN & WILL. LOYD and either of them that in case the sd MARRIAGE shall soe take effect as aforesd. he the sd JOHN RICE his heires shall not only permit sd REBECCA TRAVERS at her will & pleasure to dispose of the sd Negroes with their issue &c, (and all other cattle as before granted) & will well & truely deliver the same according to such limitacon without any charge for the maintenance or keeping of them or any of them. In Witness the parties have sett their hands and Seales.
