Augusta (Special)--Ralph W. Bowen, 84, president of the Peoples State Bank of Augusta, died Sunday morning at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. William B. Warner and the Rev. Harry Dovenspike officiating. The local Masonic lodge will be in charge of the service. Burial will be in Bangor, Wis. Friends may call at the Sipe Funeral Home today and until 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and at the church after that. Mr. Bowen was born in Modena. As a young man he entered the Railway Mail Services, continuing in that work until 1911. In 1915 he married Pearl Hineman. He came to Augusta in 1911, purchasing the telephone and light plants which he sold in 1928. He founded the Augusta Canning Co. and in 1915, he and his associates organized the Peoples State Bank, serving on the board of directors. He was made president a few years ago. Mr. Bowen was a member of the Methodist Church, past master of the Masonic Lodge and was patron of the Eastern Star for many years. He was active in the Conservation League and the Augusta Booster Club. Survivors include his wife and a brother, John Bowen of Barron.
