2. Benton County Daily Record Posted on Thursday, June 22, 2006 Siloam Springs Ralph Earl Austin, 82, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Tuesday, June 20,2006, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1923,in Rothville, Mo., to Cecil John Austin and Agnes Grace Semple Austin. He married Marion Frances Carter on Dec. 24, 1942, in Kansas City,Kan. He retired from Gates Rubber Co. He was a member of the Harvard Avenue Baptist Church, where he was head usher, an active member of the Joy group and an ordained deacon, having been ordained in 1966. He was also a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Lions Club and the American Legion. He was a World War II veteran, serving withthe 8th Air Force of the U. S. Army Air Corps and flying 37 missions. Survivors include his wife, Marion F. Austin of Siloam Springs; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Don Austin of Siloam Springs, and John Austin and Janet Austin of Fort Madison, Iowa; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorotha Smith and Chet Smith of Mendon, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Lewis of Topeka, Kan., and Vurnona Toy of Mount Vernon, Mo.; three grandchildren, Jonathan Austin and Jason Austin, both of Denver, Colo., and Kirsten Kelly of Peoria, Ill.; a great-granddaughter, Katie Kelly of Peoria; and special friends, Barbara and Bill Baker of Denver. Visitation will be from 4 p. m. to 8 p. m. Thursday, June 22, at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs. Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Friday, June 23, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel with Pastor Tad Thompson, Pastor Rick Gearing and Pastor Larry Smith. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.
