Her granddaughter, Mary Westbrook Van Deusen, wrote a book entitled, "Rachel Dumont, A Brave Little Maid of the Revolution." It was written as a tribute to Tjerck Beekman and Rachel Dumont. "The slave woman 'Isabel,' who figures in this narrative, afterward became the world famed evangelist, Sojourner Truth, and was for many years an intimate of the family of Rachel Dumont's brother, John Dumont."
