!BIRTH-BURIAL: E-mail message from Ron THERIOT (theriot@erols.com) in May 1998, from data according to Ms. GALLIER. Pierre THERIOT, born 1767 Convent, LA, was father of Michael Eloi (1795-1861). Pierre received a land grant from the Spanish at Convent. A map of those grants is on a wall at Oak Alley Plantation in LA, across river from location. Ron has pictures of Pierre's deteriorating crypt at St. Michael's Cemetery at Convent, St. James, LA.

!BIRTH-PARENTS-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-DEATH: Evelina Bourg Gallier, 15-GENERATION PEDIGREE CHART; prepared in 1983 for Cyrus THERIOT; sent in Jun 1996 by Robert THERIOT, 1411 Patriot Drive, Slidell LA 70145, e-mail (BOBTHERIOT@aol.com); also sent by Ron THERIOT in Jun 1998. Pierre THERIOT, born 1767 in St. James Parish, [LA], son of Joseph & Magdeleine BOURGEOIS. He married on 26 Jul 1789 to Anastasie DUGAS MICHEL (SJA-2, 7); three children are listed as direct-line ancestors of Cyrus THERIOT: Pierre II; Michel Eloi [twice]; and Marguerite Artemise. Pierre died on 20 Jun 1853 at Convent, St. James, LA.

!BROTHER-MARRIAGE: He was probably the witness to his brother Charles' marriage with Rosalie LE BLANC on 23 Jun 1804.

!BIRTH-MARRIAGE-DEATH: Yvelle Theriot Girouard, "Theriot Genealogy--Acadia to Louisiana," in TERREBONNE LIFE LINES, vol. I, no. 3; p. 54. Sent by Pat Blanchard in Mar 1996. Pierre TERRIO, born 1767 in St. James, LA, married Anastasie DUGAS [sic] MICHEL on 26 Jul 1789.

!DEATH: Diocese of Baton Rouge Archives, letter from Renée RICHARD (RRichard@diobr.org), sent 11 Jul 2001. She photocopied pages from the original St. Michael's Church register, from Convent, St. James, LA for the burials recorded in vol. 4 for the year 1853, pages 224 & 225 (SMI-4, 224 & 225). On the microfilm of page 225 is a clearly written message in pencil, between two other entries in French dated 17 Jun and 5 Jul 1853. The margin has "Pierre Thériot père" and the note says "Décédé le 20 juin, 1853" and underneath on next line is "(Dee Theriot) Mrs. Jack Hains 1959." According to Renée Richard, presently the Archivist, this is not an official church record. The notation was made on the original church register when it was still at St. Michael's in 1959. The microfilm was made a few years later, and so the note shows there as well. Renée Richard also made a scan (photocopy) of the page as it appears now in the register stored at the Archives in Baton Rouge. She says "There was a notation made in the register by Nora Lee Pollard, archivist here for many years verifying that it is not a church record." The second note reads: "Not a church record. We can not issue certified certificate on Pierre Theriot. Nora Lee Pollard, Archivist 11 June 1980."

St. Michael's became an independent church in 1822, and the present church was dedicated on 9 Mar 1833, later enlarged and beautified. It was recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
