    Philip Alexander (1664-1706) inherited the lower part of the Howsen parcel, which included the future site of the city of Alexandria, VA.

    Captain Philip Alexander (1704-1753) appears to have been his son or grandson. Captain Philip Alexander (1704-1753) donated land from the Howsen parcel, along with John Alexander (1711-1763), in order to help found the city of Alexandria in 1749.
