"7925 Peter Tyler (Roger), settled in Branford, Ct. in 1667-68; died 20 Apr 1712 at Branford; … Peter and Francis Tyler were among the original signers of the 'New Plantation and Church Covenant' of Branford, 20 Jan 1667. At the time of the reorganization of the Congregational church in Branford, 7 Mar 1687, Peter was one of its 'seven pillars' and a deacon. He was the most honored of his contemporary kinsmen in Branford. He was deputy to the General Assembly in 1703-1704. He was 'propowned for freeman' at a court in Hartford as early as 9 May 1672. He was defeated in his petition of Oct 1710, which was an appeal to the Assembly from a judgment rendered against his land in the lower court. He was appointed guardian of Charles Tyler in 1698 (See Colonial Records of Ct., Vol. IV). His will and the inventory of his estate are in New Haven Records and a copy at Hartford Historical Society."
