'On 3 Feb 1673, Peter's son [possibly Hans] harbored in his home the täufer [baptist] Wenger. The authorities decided to deal with him as they did his father. The authorities of Signau [a village in Emmental, Kanton Bern] reported that Peter Erb would not take the oath . . . Since Erb could not pay the fine he was ordered out of the land. He was later sent to the wood works in Bern.'[2]
