    Peletiah, 4th child & 3rd son of George & Sarah Webster, he married, lived & died in Lebanon, CT. His will is recorded in the Willimantic County Probate Records. He married Joanna Smith, nee Crofoot/Crowfoot, a widow, on 14 Dec 1725 in Lebanon, Windham, CT. They married the same day as his widowed mother married John Marsh. Buried in Lebanon with this inscription on the tombstone: "The body of Mr. Peletiah Webster lies buried here. He married Mrs. Joanna Smith, by her had eight children, gave his eldest son a liberal education, the rest he brought up reputably. He was a pious and prudent man. Born 17 Nov 1702. Died 15 Feby 1756."

    Pelatiah died at age 53. Quite a few land transactions on record, and records regarding the probate of his will and the splitting up of the properties. His estate was inventoried at his death and the value on Mar 4, 1756 was 588 pounds, 1 shilling and 2 pence. He was a member of the Goshen Church in Lebanon that his brother Jonathan help to found.

    *Rev.Peletiah b. 24 Nov 1726 d. abt 1795 in Philadelphia, PA. He is buried in Mt.Vernon Cemetery in Philadelphia. A merchant & statesman of Philadelphia, he m. in 1750 at Greenwich,Hamphire,MA to Ruth Kellogg. He graduated from Yale College in 1746, studied theology and preached at Greenwich from 1748-49. From the ministry he turned to an active business career. In Noah Webster's Genealogy he said that Peletiah was dismissed from his pastoral charge and entered into trade, settled in Philadelphia where he accumulated a handsome estate. He attended to many financial matters during the Revolution. He was active in government, publishing many articles and opinions. There is an account of his personal suffering during the War while the British held Philadelphia. He was imprisioned and had much of his wealth taken from him. His will was probated in 1795, but the exact date of death is not known. His first wife died at some point & he remarried in 1785 to Rebecca Hunt. He and Ruth had 4 children, all born in Greenwich,MA: Abethia b.1751m.Dr.John Sparhawk---Peletiah b.1753 d.1779 in Philadelphia, unmarried.---Ruth b.1755 m.John Perit---Sophia b.1761 m.Thaddeus Perit d.22 May 1784, age 24, buried New Haven, CT.     *Shadrach b. 14 Sep 1732 m. 1756 to Elizabeth Wright of Greenwich, Hampshire, MA. He died prior to 1770 prob at Greenwich. They had 4 girls. The End
    *Oliver b. 6 May 1735 m.Patience Wright in 1760, sister of Shadrach's wife. He stayed in Lebanon til abt.1770 when he removed to Worthington, MA. He served in the French & Indian War in Capt.Edmond Well's Co as a private in 1757 for 2wks 4da, receiving as his total wages 10shillings & 3pence. Per pay records of Co.A Conn.Troops. He served in the Revolution for 8mos in Capt.John McGreiger's Co.,Col.John Durkee's Reg, Conn.Line. Enlisted in 1779, discharged 1780. Muster Rolls incl. 1780 at Morristown. He died at Bennington, Licking, OH abt.1816 having followed his son, Pelatiah, out to Ohio. Patience died in Delaware county, OH. They had 11 children. The first 5 born in Lebanon, the rest in Worthington, MA: Oliver b.1761--Mary b.1762--Ebenezer b.1764--Huldah b.1767--Joana b.1769--Lucinda b.1772--Claricy b.1774--Sarah b.1777--Parthenia b.1780--Pelatiah b.1782--Althea b.1787. These children continued in Chapter 12
    ++ Of these 3 sons only one produced any further Websters. That was Pelatiah, a Methodist Episcopal preacher who moved west to Ohio(Knox & Licking Co.) and had 5 sons to keep the Webster name. The lives of these sons continues in Chapters 25 & 55.

    *Jerusha b. 29 Oct 1739 m. Joseph Bailey Jr in 1758. They lived and died and are buried in Sharon, Litchfield, CT.
    *Constant b. 7 Dec 1741. He was 14 when his father died. He was bound out to a neighbor to learn the blacksmith trade but he ran away. He m. a Miss Kinne and they lived in CT. They had six children. She died and he removed to Worthington, MA with his children.There are some fragments of old rolls of the French & Indian War that suggest he might have served. He did served in the Revolution."Sgt.Constant Webster of Capt.Ebenezer Webber's Co from Worthington marched on Lexington Alarm in Apr of 1775. He made 2d Lt. in 1776 & Lt. in 1777 on an expedition to Stillwater. He marched to Ticonderaga, also from Worthington to Bennington to reinforce Gen.Stark and ret'd home via Northampton conducting prisoners". There is a Constant Webster mentioned in 1780 which is thought to be his son. He remarried in 1783 to Chloe Sackett Atherton. Probate Records of Northampton, MA show that Constant Webster, blacksmith & farmer, of Worthington, died abt. 1826 at age 85 and gave to his wife Chloe and to his 8 sons and 3 daughters(from both marriages). These sons are continued in Chapter 12.
    ++These 8 sons left CT. One set out for Ohio, another to Pennsylvania, the rest moved west to New York (Wyoming & Renscelaer) These sons are continued in Chapter 25 & 56.
