Obituaries LIEUT. HOSLER SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK --Retired Police Official Stricken After Visit to Friend--

 Stricken ill suddenly early today shortly after he returned home from a visit to a friend, Paul Hosler, 69, retired police lieutenant, died of a heart condition in the bathroom of his home at 2000 James Street.t
 His wife, Mrs. Mary Dunfee Hosler, heard him fall in the bath and found him on the floor when she ran to his aid.  He complained of severe pains about the heart, she told investigators.  A physician was summoned but death occurred shortly afterward.
 Coroner H. Ernest Gak learned that Lieutenant Hosler had been under a doctor's care more than two years for the heart ailment and had been advised to avoid exertion of any kind.  He certified the cause of death.
 Lieutenant Hosler was appointed to the police department Nov. 28, 1901, and served until June 5, 1917, when he retired.  As a young policeman he became noted as a boxer.  He served for many years on the patrol wagon at Police Headquarters.
 During recent years, Lieutenant Hosler had engaged in private detective work, according to members of his family.  He was a communicant of St. Joseph's (French) Church.
 Lieutenant Hosler was born in Syracuse, a son of the late Paul and Mary Deegan Hosler, early settlers in the old Seventh Ward.  He is survived he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Dunfee Hosler; a son, Paul Hosler, Jr.; and a grandson, Hall J. Hosler.
 His funeral will take place at 8:45 A.M. Saturday from the William P. Hart & Sons funeral home, and a 9:30 o'clock in St. Joseph's (French) Church.  Burial will be in St. Agnes' Cemetery.

 Last rites for Paul Hosler, 69, of 2000 James Street, retired member of the Syracuse police department, who died yesterday morning, will be conducted at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow from the rooms of William P. Hart & Sons, and at 9:30 in St. Joseph's (French) Church. Burial will be in St. Agnes' Cemetery.
